A Calm Retreat, Cleverly Considered

This Crouch End bathroom originally opened onto the hallway, with an awkward layout that lacked privacy and did not make the best use of the available space. The clients wanted a luxurious bathroom with a generous bath, separate shower and practical storage, all within the existing footprint.

MALT relocated the entrance from the hallway into the adjoining bedroom, creating a private ensuite and unlocking a more effective layout. The new arrangement made space for everything on the clients’ wish list, including built-in shelving and a bespoke vanity. Industrial-inspired fittings are balanced with rich pattern, texture and warmer decorative details, while a vintage-style mirror was adapted to conceal additional recessed storage.

The result is a beautifully resolved ensuite that feels connected to the bedroom while offering a greater sense of seclusion. Clever spatial planning allows every element to earn its place, creating a bathroom that feels generous, personal and quietly luxurious.
