Old Street City Loft
Industrial Character, Reimagined
This warehouse style Old Street flat had not been updated for some time and was ready for a new chapter. As a rental property, the brief was to make it as appealing as possible to prospective tenants while investing carefully in the areas that would have the greatest impact. Exposed brick, original timber floorboards and generous proportions already gave the flat plenty of character, so the focus was on enhancing what was there rather than starting again.
MALT focused the refurbishment on the kitchen, bathroom, storage, lighting and finishes, balancing design impact with durability and value. Dark timber joinery and bespoke concrete worktops complemented the industrial character of the building, while warm textured tiles, black detailing and layered lighting brought warmth and atmosphere. Bespoke storage improved functionality, with existing features retained wherever they added to the character of the property.
The result is a distinctive, hard-working city home that feels considered, contemporary and ready for its next occupants. By focusing the budget where it mattered most, the refurbishment has given the flat a stronger identity and renewed appeal while preserving the industrial character that sets it apart.
