From Pokey to Perfect

This Whetstone Victorian home had beautiful original character, but the layout felt awkward and out of step with modern family life. The kitchen diner was pokey, the configuration needed rethinking, and the house needed to work harder for everyday living, entertaining and working from home.

MALT reworked and extended the space to create a brighter, more open kitchen diner with a new light well at its centre. The bespoke kitchen became the heart of the home, with space for an American-style fridge, integrated storage and a built-in working area. Alongside the interior design, a tech assessment helped modernise the property, allowing for a dedicated media room, improved working-from-home provision, EV wiring and a security system.

The result is a home that balances Victorian character with modern comfort and function. It now has clear zones that truly work for the family, bringing light, flow and everyday ease to a once awkward layout.
